Waiting | By Samer Farha

I left home at about 9:00 a.m. EDT on Friday morning. Just over fifteen and a half hours later, I walked into my hotel room in Tokyo. Of course, Tokyo is thirteen hours ahead of EDT. So far, though, my jet lag strategy seems to be working. I’m getting tired and sleepy, and it’s just past midnight here, which is how I want it to play out.

The flight was uneventful, and Tokyo seems like a cool and nice place. There are a couple of set backs that I wasn’t expecting, though. My iPhone doesn’t work here — seems Japan is on 3G and nothing else from GSM works here. Also, my Visa debit/credit card doesn’t seem to be working. This is mildly worrying because I don’t have any yen to my name. I do have some dollars and an Amex card, so those should last me until I can get my bank on the line late Monday night.

That’s all for now, more later.
