My strategy for dealing with jet lag is to not sleep much the night before a intercontinental flight. I then try to readjust my sleep schedule by sleeping or staying awake on the plane.
My flight to Tokyo is 14 hours long, and we land at 15:25 local time. I slept for only five hours last night, and I’m tired. If I can get to sleep shortly after takeoff at 12:20 EDT, and stay sleeping for about eight hours, I will wake up at about 09:00 Tokyo time. That should get me well on my way to dealing with the 13 hour difference.
I’ll report back on what happens.
